I was lucky enough able to capture this beautiful sunrise photo with a sprawling field of tea plantation in the valley at the front of me and range of layered mountains in the far east. This is probably one of my most beautiful sunrise photos which I have been chasing for and taken in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia during my second visit 8 years after the first.

Why I said I was lucky??
We purchased a tour package and this "sunrise tour" was one of the sites included. We were fetched at hotel lobby at 6:30 in the morning by the tour guide and drive up to the view point and reach there at 6:50. Nest cafe and sandwich was prepared for us by our friendly guide over there and we finished them settle down before sunrise which is about 7:02-7:05. There were a few photographers anxiously waiting for the beautiful sunrise. It is about the time starting to see some glimpse of light, a cloud over the hill start to change color and photo shooting went on.

This post is not about the photo shooting, but about the amazing weather condition.

About 8:00 in the morning we started to pack and ready to be back. When I reach my hotel room and I notice the view I am seeing through the window is exactly the same spot we went that morning. So what??? I will take another sunrise photo in the following morning from my hotel room.

The next morning, amazingly, I could not see the mountain range, sunrise, the tea plantation and anything were there. Sound strange?? Because it was a misty morning and I only can see the white cloud. In fact, it was a summer time not suppose to be that cloudy.

So some time it is better follow the local guys.

Co Co Valley Duty Free, Langkawi Island of Malaysia

For those chocolate lovers!! You may not notice other shop but you will not miss this Duty Free Shop because of its color. There are about 3 duty free shops located at the Kuah Town, the capital of the Langkawi island. They are the Coco Valley Duty Free Supermarket, Zeno Duty Free Shopping Centre and the Onestop Duty free.

Langkawi beach.

Langkawi Beach, Malaysia

Sailed to Langkawi from Penang on 21st Apr 2011 at 8:15 am. This shoot was captured on the following day late afternoon in Langkawi.

Langkawi is a resort island located at the north west of Malaysia. It can be reached by direct flight from Singapore and other several countries around this region. But we flew to Penang, which is also a small island belong to Malaysia at the north and from there we cross the strait to Langkawi. Probably the most beautiful spot in this region and for landscape and seascape photographers.

This is my second visit and the first visit was in 2006. Same location, same time, same shot and the environment is as beautiful as last 5 years. Nothing has been changed, but I am 5 years older. But again, I feel young when I am taking picture.

Esplanade or Theaters on the Bay by Singapore River

I love landscape photography and I do love architectural photography as well. :)

The Esplanade theater or Theaters on the Bay by Singapore river is one of the most photographed sites in Singapore along the Marina bay. Frankly speaking in Singapore we do not have many fantastic landscape or seascape to photograph to make landscape photography if I am not mistaken.

The well known Petronas Twin Towers of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004 until Taipei 101, but remain the tallest twin buildings in the world. The building is the landmark of Kuala Lumpur with nearby Kuala Lumpur Tower. If you are there I bet you will see people taking photograph of this tower and I will see you taking picture of this if I am there too. :)

Sunset at Langkawi Beach Resort

Langkawi beach resort, at about 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. One of the attractive sites for photographers especially who love sunset and landscape photography. It is a duty-free island (I love this). Popular beaches are Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tengah, Burau Bay, Pantai Kok, and Datai Bay. Pantai Cenang is my favorite beach and strongly recommend for landscape photographers. It is also great for seascape and sunset photography as well. It is a beautiful beach with seemingly unending stretches of fine white sand. Along the beach with the tall coconuts and casuarinas added the fantastic landscape. Pantai Kok is a peaceful and quiet beach with the backdrop of limestone hills.

How to go to Langkawi..

Tourists can reach the island via ferry from Kuala Perlis or by flight from Kuala Lumpur or even from Singapore there is a direct flight(Malaysia Airlines). Air Asia provides budget connections to the island.

The Langkawi International Airport is one of the 7 international airports in Malaysia and connects the island to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Penang, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Phuket and also Subang. On the island, there is only one main road runs through the whole island, so you won't be lost. Rental cars and taxis are available in Langkawi with a very reasonable price. Taxis do not run on meter, but instead drivers charge a flat rate which is quite "standardized" from point to point. It would be better ask the taxi fare before you board.
